TJ Benson - Head Varsity Coach
Born and raised in Syracuse, New York, TJ Benson is a 2010 graduate of Paul V. Moore High School. TJ played two years of varsity lacrosse for his high school team, and three years of varsity club lacrosse for the Central New York Roadhawks travel team. After high school, TJ attended a NCAA Division III school Utica College in Utica, New York, where he played for four years, and graduated in May 2014 with a Bachelors degree in English. He then went overseas, and played for another year at Durham University in England. TJ helped Durham win the British University Championship Series (BUCS) national championship in March 2015, while pursuing his masters’ degree in education.
While overseas, TJ helped coach Durham University’s second and third teams to final four runs in their respective divisions. Before moving to Texas, TJ assisted with his hometown Central Square Redhawks school team for two years at the 7th and 8th grade levels. In Friendswood, TJ was an assistant on the 2016 Friendswood varsity lacrosse team and the head coach for the 7th and 8th grade Friendswood Youth Lacrosse team. Before joining the Houston Hounds, TJ also coached for the 3D Houston Club Lacrosse team.
TJ has played attack throughout his career, and is a very offensive minded coach.
Outside of lacrosse, TJ works in the Social Studies Department at Friendswood High School.
